Need some ideas on where to go wine tasting while you’re staying in downtown Sonoma? You are near two areas for wine tasting, with tasting rooms anywhere from three to thirty minutes away that are actually worth your time and money.

We’ve posted all of our recommendations for Sonoma County on our website, as well as our preferred places for eating.

If you head south from the city of Sonoma, you can quickly reach the Carneros Region for wine tasting. This area is prime growing land for Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs, and some of our favorite places include Schug Carneros Estate and Etude. Or, if you are in the mood for sparkling wine, this is the way to Gloria Ferrer and Domaine Carneros. Read more about the Carneros region here.

If you want to stay close to downtown Sonoma, you may even be able to walk to the tasting rooms for Hawkes Wine and Roessler Cellars.  Or, you can drive up Highway 12 through the Sonoma Valley, to reach wineries like Arrowood or Chateau St. Jean.  Read more about the Sonoma Valley region here.

If you just want some advice on where to go eat in the Sonoma area, you can find that on our website too.  Suggestions for everything from authentic Mexican (El Molino Central) to homemade pastas (Mamma Tanino’s) to a great bar (El Dorado Kitchen) to fine dining (Cafe La Haye) can be found here.

If you are staying in the city of Sonoma, you chose well.
