In just ten days it will be time for the 17th annual Taste of Howell Mountain Wine Tasting and Auction at Charles Krug Winery on Saturday, June 16th, from Noon to 5:00 p.m..  Come join the party at 2800 Main Street (Highway 29) in St. Helena and indulge in the fabulous wines of Howell Mountain accompanied by gourmet food.  Tickets for the event are $125 and can be purchased here.

For 2012, Annual Taste of Howell Mountain is taking on a golf theme, morphing into “The Howell Mountain Open – A Wine Tasting Classic” with all manner of fun golf activities.  There will be 34 wineries pouring their wines at the event including some of our favorite purveyors such as Black Sears Vineyards, Bremer Family Winery, CADE, Cornerstone Cellars, Duckhorn Vineyards, Dunn Vineyards, La Jota Vineyard Company, Neal Family Vineyards, O’Shaughnessy Estate Winery, Outpost Wines, Piña Napa Valley, and Robert Craig Winery.  To see the complete list of participating wineries, go here.

Winery Chefs, owned by chef Richard Haake will cater the event, offering small bites such as a BBQ “Par”-Fait (Smoked Pork Shoulder tossed in Eastern Carolina BBQ Sauce layered with Rancho Gordo Pinquito Beans, Cole Slaw, and a Red Chili Garnish), The “Masters” Sandwich (Pimento Cheese, Bacon, and Pickled Jalapeños on Model Bakery Sourdough Country Bread), The Divot (Lettuce Cup filled with Asian Marinated Grilled Beef, Rice Noodle, and Jicama Cucumber Salad) and Arnold “Palmiers” (Lemon Thyme and Fiscalini Cheddar Palmier).

The event will also provide other fun activities such as a Silent Auction, Bid Board Wine Auction, Live Auction, and even a Raffle.  Seize your chance to bid and win on fine wines, winemaker dinners, tours and tastings, travel, recreation, and resort opportunities.  If you want a sneak peak at the Live Auction lots available this year, then go here.

As a change of pace, this year’s event will have live entertainment this year, a high energy blues band called The Hummingbirdz.

The 2012 Taste of Howell Mountain is brought to you by Howell Mountain Vintners and Growers Association, promoting the wonderful wines made from grapes grown just “above the fog.”  Proceeds from the event will benefit the Howell Mountain Elementary School.
