Dark & Delicious Petite Sirah TMFood and wine event lovers should know that Dark & Delicious Petite Sirah™ provides an amazing tasting experience and it’s coming next month to the East Bay.  With over 40 premium Petite Sirah wineries and 30 fabulous Napa and Bay Area restaurants, caterers, and food purveyors, you shouldn’t miss your chance for this much fun, food, and wine in a convenient location (and with free parking, no less).

Dark & Delicious Petite Sirah™ is the preeminent Petite Sirah annual event, produced each year by PS I Love You, Inc. The festivities will take place on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 6 to 9 pm and it will be held once again at Rock Wall Wine Company (2301 Monarch Street, Suite 3D, Alameda).  Tickets are only available in advance, and they are limited so you should really go here and buy them soon.

Tickets for the 8th Annual Dark & Delicious Petite Sirah™ are $65 per person or $55 per person for groups of 6 or more.  In addition to a broad range of wine and food samples, the event offers a Silent Auction so you can have fun bidding between tastes of incredible Petite Sirah.  Last year’s packages included private tour and tasting activities, lodging and tasting packages, and bottles of wine ranging from 375 ml to 3 liters.

Some of the participating wineries at Dark & Delicious will be Andis Wines, Artezin/The Hess Collection, Clayhouse Wines, Concannon VineyardFenestra Winery, Field Stone Winery, Gustafson Family Vineyards, Mounts Family Winery, Parducci Wine Cellars, Pat Paulsen Vineyards, Ridge Vineyards, Robert Biale Winery, Rock Wall Wine Company, Trentadue Winery, Tres Sabores, and Trueheart Vineyard.

In addition to all of the great wine, this event has a substantial amount of well-prepared and scrumptious food for attendees.  Last year, we enjoyed dozens of delicious Petite Sirahs along with these tasty samples:

  • Oven Roasted Polenta with Braised Oxtail Ragu from Il Posto Trattoria
  • Liquid Vanilla Caramel and Coffee Hazelnut Caramels from Coco Tutti Confections

Those organizations are all returning for the 2014 Dark & Delicious, and some of the other food purveyors on February 21 will be Bert’s Desserts, Bonehead’s Texas BBQ, Hella Lumpia, Mary’s Pizza Shack, Scolari’s Good Eats, Smoakville, Sweetpea Catering, The Whole Cake,  Towne House Restaurant, and Venga Paella.

PS I Love YouPS I Love You is a non-profit organization created to promote, educate, and legitimize Petite Sirah as a heritage variety with a special emphasis on its terroir uniqueness.  Winery members who join the organization receive benefits such as social media exposure, media publicity promoting the varietal, discounts for the annual Petite Sirah Symposium, media tasting opportunities, and the opportunity to participate in the annual Dark & Delicious wine and food event.

Some of the original PS I Love You winery members (since 2002) are BARRA of Mendocino, Silkwood Wines, Wilson Vineyards, Foppiano Vineyards, and Rosenblum Cellars.  Recent additions (who will also be sharing their wines at Dark & Delicious this year) include Anaba Wines, Carica Wines, Delectus Winery, Hickman Family Vineyards, and Sones Cellars. 

PS I Love You GroupieConsumers can also become a Petite Sirah “Groupie” through PS I Love You.  Membership benefits for consumers include VIP entrance to events, discounted rate at events, a T-shirt, and an annual Groupie BBQ with winemakers.  Single Groupie membership is only $50 per year, and a Couple Groupie membership is just $25 more.  To join, please go here.
