Napa Valley Restaurant MonthIf you’re heading to Napa Valley, you should know that January 2014 is the 4th Annual Napa Valley Restaurant Month.   You can find plenty of dining specials and promotions effective until January 31, as over two dozen restaurants will showcase artisanal foods and the creativity of the area’s chefs on special multi-course Restaurant Month menus. To top it off, Napa Valley’s gracious hoteliers and cozy B&Bs have made it easier to stay here with “stay-and-dine” lodging packages.

Keep reading, and we’ll describe a few of the appealing reasons to come sip and savor some of Napa Valley’s finest foods and wines during Napa Valley Restaurant Month. There are a broad range of dishes at a discount, including Petrale Sole, Shrimp & Grits, Pizza Margherita, Fried Chicken, Duck Enchilada, and a Lamb Burger.  The Napa Valley has more Michelin-star rated restaurants per capita than any other wine region in the world, and throughout January 2014 you can indulge in food adventures to compliment your fine wine excursions.

Here are just some of the dining opportunities you can take advantage of this month:

Bistro Don Giovanni offers a warm and inviting experience with all the personality of a Mediterranean hideaway. During Restaurant Month, they are offering guests a three-course meal (for Lunch and Dinner) at $35 per person.  For the first course, you have your choice of Soup, Salad, or the Antipasti del Giorno.  Second Course is Pizza Margherita, Pasta del Giorno, or Pesce del Giorno.  Guests can then choose between Tiramisu or a Cheese Plate for dessert.

C CASA LogoHoused in Napa’s Oxbow Market, C CASA may be very casual but it is considered one of the top restaurants in Napa and has been awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand award four years in a row. During January, you can order Mary’s Rotisserie Duck Enchilada with Goat and Oaxacan Cheeses drenched in a Mole Sauce topped with Micro Greens and finished with Lime Crema, accompanied by a C Caesar Salad and finished with an Apple Salted Caramel Tartlett for $18.   You can also add a glass of Copain Syrah for just $8.00. C CASA is sustainable and 100% gluten free.

Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch – 738 Main Street, St. Helena  (707) 963-9181

Farmstead features an authentic farm-to-table menu that highlights Long Meadow Ranch’s all natural grass-fed beef, organic and sustainably raised fruits, vegetables and eggs.  During Napa Valley Restaurant Month, Monday through Thursday, you can find both Lunch and Dinner specials here.  For Lunch, for $15, you can have a two-course meal of Seasonal Soup and a Pulled Pork Sandwich with Creamy Potato Salad.  For Dinner, $27 will get you a three-course menu including Arugula Salad with Seasonal Fruit, Toasted Almonds, and Local Cheese followed by “Brick Cooked” Chicken with Rancho Gordo Beans, Greens, and Salsa Verde.  The third course is Farmstead Cookies.  You can also add a glass of Long Meadow Ranch Sauvignon Blanc to either featured menu for $5.

A 2013 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence recipient, Fish Story’s menu features sustainable, ocean-fresh seafood paired with seasonal produce from its own gardens and other local farms.  From January 9-31, you can find a two-course Lunch for $14.95 (two Napa Valley wines pairing $10 additional).  Or, you can order a three-course Dinner for $24.95 which adds on a dessert choice (three Napa Valley wines pairing $15 additional).

  • Appetizer: Black Beluga Lentil Soup, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Caramelized Hen of the Woods, Creme Fraiche (or) Winter Greens Salad, Braised Endive, Shaved Pear, Toasted Walnuts

During January, their special offer is a three course Lunch for $20.  First course is your choice of a Mixed Green Salad, Caesar Salad, or Cup of Soup.  Second Course is either a Margherita Pizza, Spaghetti & Meatballs, or Rigatoni with Papa Sauce (the family’s meat sauce).   Gelato is the third course, with flavor selections including Spumoni, Chocolate, Vanilla, or Knob Creek Bourbon Butter Pecan).

In the heart of downtown St. Helena, La Condesa offers live music, a massive tequila bar and a menu inspired by the street food of Mexico and the farm-fresh bounty of the Napa Valley. For Restaurant Month, the specials center around a Taco Flight (of three tacos).  The Lunch Special is $14, and you can start with your choice of a Casa Salad or Tortilla Soup before your Taco Flight.  Dinner has those same two courses, and then adds a dessert of Café Con Leche for a total price of $22.  For wine, you can purchase a Tasting Flight ($10 for three 2.5 oz pours) or maybe you would prefer a bottle (at 25% off) of wines from members of the local Mexican-American Vintners Association.

Located near Napa’s Oxbow Public Market and the historic Napa Valley Wine Train, Cuvée’s community-oriented offerings are dictated by regional availability and ripeness, producing rich comfort food flavors.  During Restaurant Month, you can find “Four 4 Fourty Four”, a four-course meal for $44.   After starting with Grilled Rustic Bread with Tomato, Fresh Garlic & Basil, your next course is Torn Kale with Apple, Crushed Almonds, Currants, and a Ginger Yogurt Dressing.  The main course is Braised Barbeque Pork Shoulder with White Cheddar Polenta, Charred Broccoi Rabe and Toasted Marcona Almonds, followed by Hazelnut Pot du Crème for Dessert.

Solbar at Solage LogoA local favorite and destination for foodies, Solbar is a four-time Michelin Star-rated restaurant offering healthful and indulgent seasonal choices.  Solbar offers daily specials in a casual, spirited atmosphere:

  • Sunday:  Receive 50% off any Club Solage member wine on the list
  • Monday:  Locals Night, where you can find $5 well drinks and $3 microbrews on tap starting at 5 pm
  • Tuesday:  Fried Chicken Dinner of tender, juicy, Southern-Fried Chicken with seasonal sides for $38
  • Wednesday:  BYOB night, so bring your own wine and Solbar will waive the corkage fee
  • Thursday:  Oysters shucked to order, raw on the half shell, with tantalizing sauces.

Tarla Mediterranean Grill – 1480 First Street, Napa  (707) 255-5599

In Downtown Napa, Tarla has a sophisticated yet straightforward menu of Greek-Turkish fusion cuisine in a relaxed environment. During January you can enjoy a three-course meal for $18 at Lunch or $29 at Dinner. Starters are your choice of the Soup of the Day or the House Salad.  For your main course, select between Chicken Kebabs, a Lamb Burger, or the Risotto of the Day.  For Dessert, you have a choice between Baklava or Apricots.

Bouchon Bakery LogoDuring Napa Valley Restaurant Month, you can visit Bouchon Bakery (6528 Washington Street, Yountville, 707-944-2253) and start your morning with a cup of Equator coffee and a Muffin for $5 (Monday through Friday between 7 and 9 am).  Or, for a late snack you can visit Bouchon Bistro (6534 Washington Street, Yountville, 707-944-8037) between 10 pm and midnight and enjoy a Croque Madame and Frites paired with the restaurant’s exclusive White Apron Ale for $25.
