Napa Premium Outlets – Worth a Damn?

Napa Premium Outlets

If you’re coming up to Napa to go wine tasting and was wondering if the outlet mall there is any good or not, I have an answer for you.

Yep, it kinda is.

The Napa Premium Outlets complex only has about 50 stores, so it’s not as comprehensive (or overwhelming) as the outlet malls in Vacaville (120 stores) or Gilroy (145 stores).  But, if you want to go shopping for just a few hours, it’s a decent destination.  The Outlets are just west of Highway 29, at the First Street exit in Napa.  And if you’ve ever shopped the outlets in Vacavile or Gilroy, you will understand when I say one of the pleasures here is you only have to park your car once.

For women’s clothes, the choices range from Banana Republic and BCBG Max Aria to Ann Taylor and Talbots.  If those don’t appeal to you other stores filling out your options here include Barney’s, Maidenform, Guess, Calvin Klein, CAbi, MaxStudio, and TSE.

This is actually an above-average mall for men’s clothes.  You will find a range of stores depending on his age and style, everything from Levi’s to Brooks Brothers.  In between, you will find J. Crew, Kenneth Cole, Tommy Hilfiger, and Nautica all here and usually well stocked.

If you are shopping for teens or young adults, the Napa Premium Outlets also have a PacSun, a Zumiez, and a Gap.

A noticeable difference between this and other outlet malls is the volume of shoe shopping choices.  You can probably find something worthwhile, however, between Cole Haan, Clarks Bostonian, Nine West, Aerosoles, Famous Footwear Outlet, and/or Kenneth Cole.

Need more?  Coach, Wilsons Leather, and Sunglass Hut outlets are here too.

If you plan to visit the Napa Premium Outlets, you should sign up to be a VIP member at the Premium Outlets website.  Joining is free and the volume of emails from them afterwards is pretty low.  But!  You can then go to their website and print out coupons to save money.  At the same time, you can also get a coupon from the website for a “VIP” booklet of coupons, which you can easily exchange for at the Outlets’ administration office.

The food choices at the Napa Premium Outlets are minimal but there is something nearby worth the stroll.  If you go to the north end of the mall (the Gap), and then walk through the back parking lot about 50 yards further, you will find Andie’s Cafe across the street, a great roadside burger stop.  Yes, it’s the place in front of the car wash.
