PS (Petite Sirah) I Love You

Looking for a great way to kick off your three-day Presidents’ Day Weekend?  On Friday evening, February 17, 2012, the P.S. I Love You organization is holding Dark and Delicious, its sixth annual food and wine event focused on the Petite Sirah varietal.  The 2012 Dark and Delicious will showcase 58 Wineries and 36 fine food restaurants, specialty food producers, and caterers.  From 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., this year’s celebration takes place at the Rock Wall Wine Company location at 2301 Monarch Street, Suite 30D in Alameda.  Tickets are only $63 per person and you should click here to buy tickets.  That’s not a bad price for 58 Wineries and 36 food purveyors and the event usually sells out.  Parking is free and if you need directions, click here.

Some of the food participants we are most excited about are Fiscalini Cheese, Semifreddi’s Bakery, Fume Bistro & Bar, Silverado Brewing Company, le truc, Blue Heron Catering, Nosh This, and What The Cake.  You can go to the PS I Love You website to see the complete list of who will be there.  The National Pork Board is sponsoring the event this year (again), encouraging chefs to think outside the box with pork, finding creative and delicious ways pork can be paired with Petite Sirah.

There will be 58 different wineries pouring Petite Sirah at the 2012 Dark and Delicious, but these are the ten wineries that have participated in the past we recommend you stop at first:

Ballentine Vineyards (St Helena)

Concannon Vineyard (Livermore)

Mounts Family Winery (Healdsburg)

Robert Biale Vineyards (Napa)

Rock Wall Wine Company (Alameda)

Rosenblum Cellars (Alameda)

Stags’ Leap Winery (Napa)

Trentadue Winery (Geyserville)

Tres Sabores (St Helena)

Twisted Oak (Murphys)

Thirteen wineries are making their debut this year at the 2012 Dark and Delicious, and the two we would aim for after the ten listed above are Aratas Wines (Napa) and Ridge Vineyards (Healdsburg).

P.S. I Love You is an advocacy organization whose mission is to promote, educate, and legitimize Petite Sirah as a noble variety, with a special focus on its terroir uniqueness.  The organization currently has almost 60 winery participants, and accepts public members as PS Groupies, who receive benefits such as early invitations to events (such as Dark and Delicious) at a discounted rate, VIP entrance to events, Annual BBQ with winemakers, and a T-shirt.  Click here to learn more about the organization and how to join.
