Celebrate the 2018 grape harvest by exploring Napa Happy Hour options, whether or not you actually worked this year’s harvest. Maybe you don’t feel like cooking, or you just want to go out and have fun with friends. Regardless of the reason, the city of Napa actually has about 40 places to go for Happy Hour so there’s bound to be a place with drink and/or food specials you’ll be excited about. During the summer, we posted an article about 21 downtown Napa Happy Hour destinations. Now, we’re here to talk about the many other choices within the city limits.

Ready for a beer? You’ll find both draft and bottled beers for just $4 at Il Posto Trattoria and NapaSport. More interested in wine? Then you should check out The Q which has all glasses and bottles of wine at 50% off during Happy Hour. You’ll find well drinks for just $4.50 each at Hop Creek and $5 each at Alba. Premium Call Drinks are $6 at Fumé Bistro if you start with Jack Daniel’s, Tito’s or Hendricks, or $7 each at Trancas Steakhouse if your preference is Belvedere, Tanqueray, Crown Royal, Seagrams VO or Canadian Club.

Mimosas are $5 at The Grill at Silverado, House Margaritas are $5 at Frida’s Mexican Grill and Caipirinhas are $7 at Galpão Gaucho. Or, maybe your schedule works out well for the Progressive Margarita at Compadres: $3 per glass and $15 per pitcher from 3-4 pm, $4 per glass and $20 per pitcher from 4-5 pm, and $5 per glass and $25 per pitcher from 5-6 pm.

For appetizers, at Napa Happy Hour restaurants you’ll find classic Happy Hour offerings on the menus:  Nachos, Fried Calamari, Chicken Wings, Guacamole, Garlic Fries, Meatball Sliders and Pizzas. But, since this is Napa, you’ll also find dishes such as Grilled Shishito Peppers, Bacon Macaroni and Cheese, Patatas Bravas with Lemon Aioli, Spicy Mussels, and a Mushroom, Goat Cheese and Caramelized Onion Flatbread.

Napa Happy Hour Specials Away From Downtown

Luckily, Napa Happy Hour specials are sprinkled all over town. It doesn’t matter if you’re near the movie theaters, the hospital, the DMV, the Post Office, the outlets, or the college, there’s a Napa Happy Hour option nearby. If your errands include swinging by Browns Valley Market, Home Depot, the Oxbow, Target, Trader Joe’s, Van Winden’s, or Walmart, you’re near some great discounts too:

Alba (at River Terrace Inn, 1600 Soscol Avenue, 707-320-6911) – Daily, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Happy Hour beverage offerings include Draft Beer (such as Anchor Steam, Sonoma Springs and Stone Brewing) for $5, Well Cocktails for $5 and Selected Glasses of Wine for $6. To go with your drink, you can order Corn Chowder ($5), Grilled Shishito Peppers ($5), Rosemary and Parmesan Fries with Lemon Aioli ($5), or Salmon Poke with Mango Purée ($6).

Compadres Rio Grille (505 Lincoln Avenue, 707-253-1111) – Monday through Friday, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Compadres is the home of the Progressive Margarita: $3 per glass and $15 per pitcher from 3-4, $4 per glass and $20 per pitcher from 4-5, and $5 per glass and $25 per pitcher from 5-6. Daily specials during the week include Monday Margarita Madness ($5 for “Back Bar” and “Top Shelf” margaritas all day), Tuesday Taco Fiesta (Hard Shell Tacos for $2 alongside 24 oz Tecate or Modelo Especial beers for $4 each from 3-6), Rib Day Wednesdays (Pork Spareribs until they run out), and Aloha Fridays ($4 Mai Tais and complimentary Maui Style Potato Chip Nachos from 3-6).

Crush Lounge (at The Meritage, 875 Bordeaux Way, 707-251-3066) – Monday through Thursday, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, drink specials include Stella Artois or Lagunitas IPA for $5.50, featured glasses of wine for $10, or a Cocktail of the Day for $9.50. Happy Hour food items include Smoked Maple Honey Wings, a Snake River Wagyu Hot Dog or Nachos for $10. For $11, you can indulge in Macaroni & Cheese. You can even go bowling during Napa Happy Hour as there are 6 bowling lanes available for rent (as well as shoes and balls). FYI, Crush also offers an “Industry Night” on Mondays from 4 pm until closing with $7 Bowling and “Crush Hour” Specials.

Forge Handcrafted Pizza (155 Gasser Drive, Suite B, 707-927-3394) – Tuesday through Friday, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and all day Monday, selected glasses of wine and draft beers are just $5 (and well drinks are the same price). During Happy Hour, a “Dark and Stormy” cocktail (dark rum, lime, house made ginger beer) is $7. Any pizza from the menu is just $10, which means you can get a Pepperoni and Jalapeño, Sausage and Mushroom, or Ham and Pineapple Pizza while you save up to $8 off the regular price. Forge’s “PB & J,” a Margherita Pizza, Draft Beer, and shot of Jameson’s, is $15.

Frida’s Mexican Grill (1533 Trancas Street, 707-252-3575) – Daily, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, this is one of our favorite Napa Happy Hour destinations, starting with free chips and salsa to go with $3.75 Beers, $5 House Margaritas and $5 Glasses of Wines. The extensive menu includes Two Carnitas Tacos for $4, Two Chorizo Sopes for $4, Three Ceviche Tostadas for $5, and Tepa (Shredded Beef and Potato) Enchiladas ($4 for 1, $7 for 2). The $4 Nachos here come with your choice of Ground Beef, Shredded Beef or Shredded Chicken. Or, if you prefer, you can order a Caesar Salad for $4 (and add Grilled Chicken to the Salad for another $2).

Fumé Bistro (4050 Byway East, 707-257-1999) – Monday through Friday, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Bottled Beers are $3.50 each and selected glasses of Sparkling, White or Red Wine are $6. Call Drinks made with Jack, Tito’s or Hendricks are also just $6 each. Happy Hour Snack Specials include $5 for Warm Bistro Olives, $6 for Truffle Fries, or $7 for a Smoked Turkey Croque Monsieur. Macaroni and Cheese is just $5, or you can add in Bacon for an additional $3.

Galpão Gaucho (1990 Trower Avenue, 707-255-5121) – Monday through Friday, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and Sunday from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, the drink menu offers a Caipirinha, Brazil’s traditional cocktail with muddled lime, sugar and Cachaca, for $7. Or you can get a glass of Domaine Chandon Brut for the same price.  Other beverages include a glass of Malbec for $8 or selected Draft Beers for $5. During Happy Hour, take 20% off of these regular Small Plate prices: Bacon-wrapped Chicken for $14.50, Picanha for $16.50, Grilled Salmon Filet (8 oz) for $23.50 and Lamb Chops for $26.50. Small Plates are served with Country Potatoes on the side.

The Grill at Silverado (1600 Atlas Peak Road at Silverado Resort and Spa, 707-257-0200) – Monday through Friday, from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, selected glasses of wine or draft beers (including Lagunitas IPA, Napa Smith Pilsner and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale) are just $5 each.  Or, for the same price, you can enjoy Signature Cocktails such as a Mimosa, Cape Cod or Greyhound. The Happy Hour menu also has a variety of “Lite Bites” for $7 each such as Crispy Lemon Calamari, Truffle French Fries, Chips and Guacamole, or a Soup of the Day.

Hog Island Oyster Co. (610 First Street at Oxbow Public Market, 707-251-8113) – On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, between 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm, the menu includes a weekly Oyster offering for ½ off, a selected wine for $6, and a discounted price for a selected beer or beers. You’ll also find a rotating appetizer choice, such as a Poke Wrap with Yellowtail, Green Onion and Soy Vinaigrette for $9. Choices on Hog Island’s regular menu include a Market Green Salad, Clam Chowder, Oyster Po’ Boy, and a Grilled Cheese Sandwich.

Hop Creek Pub (3253 Browns Valley Road, 707-257-7708) – Monday through Friday, between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm, well drinks are $4.50, house wines are $6 per glass and bottled and draft beers are all discounted $1. Craft Beers here include Firestone Walker Brewing Company 805 Blonde, North Coast Brewing Company Scrimshaw Pilsner and Drake’s Brewing Company Dry Stout. Reduced appetizer prices for Napa Happy Hour here in Browns Valley include Maple Glaze Brussel Sprouts for $5.50, Garlic Pub Fries for $5.50, Chicken Wings for $8, Crispy Calamari for $8.50 and Ahi Poke for $10. Or, you can order a Mushroom, Goat Cheese and Caramelized Onion Flatbread for $9.50.

Il Posto Trattoria (4211 Solano Avenue, 707-251-8600) – Daily, between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm, one of the Happy Hour specials is a Pizza Margherita and Beer for $15 with additional toppings of Mushrooms, Olives, Sausage, Salami, Pepperoni and/or Bacon costing $1 each. You can order house Wines by the Glass for $6 each or all of the Beers are $4 each. Other small Antipasti dishes include Mozzarella Stuffed Arancini for $5, Garlic Bread for $6, Bacon Macaroni and Cheese for $7 or Meatball Sliders for $9. A Seasonal Bruschetta is also $7 (a recent version was made with Cherry Tomatoes, Basil, Mozzarella, and Pickled Red Onions).

Kitchen Door (610 First Street at Oxbow Public Market, 707-226-1560) – Monday through Friday, from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, selected wines or the Mumm “Brut Prestige” sparkling wine are $7.50 per glass. Draft Beers such as Firestone Walker “Luponic Distortion #9” India Pale Ale or Faction Brewing “Flagship” Pale Ale are $5 each. Happy Hour menu items include Deviled Eggs ($5 for 4), Patatas Bravas with Lemon Aioli for $5, and Mushroom Rillettes with Crostini for $6.  Or, a “Burger and a Beer” comes with a ¼ lb Cheeseburger and a Rolling Rock Lager for $8. FYI, Kitchen Door also offers Happy Hour all day on Wednesdays.

NapaSport (145 Gasser Drive, Suite A, 707-927-5956) – Daily, from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm, draft beers and selected bottles are $4, selected glasses of wine are $5-$6, and all well drinks are $7. Bar Bites specials include a Snake River Farm All Beef Hot Dog for $8, and for another $1 you can add Bacon, Sauerkraut, or Cheese Sauce (and for $2 more you can add Chili). Chicken Wings (bone-in or boneless) are $8 with your choice of Buffalo or Teriyaki Sauces. Other “Munchies” you can order include Spicy Mixed Nuts for $4, French Fries for $5, and Maple Glazed Bacon Strips for $8. FYI, if you want to coordinate your Napa Happy Hour outing with a sporting event, NapaSport has 14 (!) HDTVs.

The “Q” Restaurant and Bar (3900 Bel Aire Plaza, 707-224-6900) – Monday through Friday, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, you’ll find all (as in ALL) cocktails, beer and wine at 50% off. Based on recent menus, that could mean $7 for a glass of Truchard Chardonnay or $8 for Grgich Hills Zinfandel. Bring a friend (or 2) and share a split of Roederer Estate Brut for $13, or 750 ml bottles of Lagier Meredith Tribidrag for $28.50 or Ehlers Estate Cabernet Sauvignon for $49. At $3 each, bottled beer selections include Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA, and Mad River Redwood Stout. There aren’t food discounts for Happy Hour but you can order off of the regular menu and explore The Q’s Cherry Wood Smoked Baby Back Ribs, Chicken, Brisket, Pulled Pork and/or Spicy Beer Sausage.

Restaurant at CIA Copia (500 First Street, 707-967-2555) – Daily, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, selected glasses of wine are $6 and selected beers (such as Sons Pilsner, Russian River Brewing Company Pliny the Elder and Eel River Amber) are $5 each. Specialty Cocktails for $8 include concoctions such as “Black Plum Fizz,” “Down Island Sour” and recently a “SOP” made with Vodka, Jasmine Tea and Lemon. Appetizer specials include Herbed Fries with Lemon Aioli for $5, Blistered Shishito Peppers for $7, and Spicy Mussels with Calabrian Chili and Grilled Bread for $11. The Napa Happy Hour Pizzas are just $10 each.

Trancas Steakhouse (999 Trancas Street, 707-258-9990) – Daily, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, you’ll find well drinks and beers (such as Coors, Budweiser and MGD) for just $4, or you can order Premium cocktails for $7 using Belvedere, Jack Daniel’s, Tanqueray, Jameson, Crown Royal, Seagrams VO or Canadian Club. Happy Hour menu items include Cheeseburger Sliders (3 for $7.95), Zucchini Fries with Marinara Sauce Dip for $6.50, or your choice of Jalapeño Sliders or Garlic French Fries for $6.95. FYI, Trancas Steakhouse also offers an “Industry Happy Hour” from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm Monday – Thursday with the same specials.

Whether you’re decompressing after work, looking for a break from the kids, or just trying to have fun, these are some of the best locations for Napa Happy Hour celebrations. If your weekday work schedule (and/or commute) makes typical Happy Hour participation difficult, don’t despair because several places offer Happy Hour specials daily.
