Wine Tasting Ideas from Healdsburg

Healdsburg Square

Healdsburg Square

Need some ideas on where to go wine tasting while you’re staying in the city of Healdsburg?  Here, you are pretty much in the center of two wine regions, with plenty of tasting rooms within thirty minutes that are definitely worth your time and money.  Some of these are within walking distance of the Square downtown, while others are probably going to require a car (or a bike).

The Alexander Valley region is primarily North and East of central Healdsburg.  Some of our favorite wineries around here are Hawkes Wine (for Chardonnay), Medlock Ames (for Rosé), Trione (for Pinot Noir), Stonestreet (for Cabernet Sauvignon), Stuhmuller (for Zinfandel), and Francis Ford Coppola (for the pool).  Read more about the Alexander Valley region here.

The Dry Creek Valley is primarily North and West of central Healdsburg, and this is where we included the central Healdsburg spots as well.  Some of our favorite wineries around here are Hawley (for Viognier), Fritz (for Chardonnay), Frick (for Cinsaut), Davis Family (for Pinot Noir), Geyser Peak (for Cabernet Sauvignon) and Longboard (for Petite Sirah).  There are also plenty of great sources for Zinfandel here, including Mauritson Family, Seghesio, and Wilson.  Read more about the Dry Creek Valley here.

We’ve posted all of our recommendations for Sonoma County on our website, as well as our preferred places for eating.   So if you’ve already decided where you want to wine taste, but aren’t sure where to eat, you may want to check out places we’ve already vetted, including sources for great coffee (Flying Goat), sandwiches (Big John’s Market), burgers (Healdsburg Bar and Grill), and Italian food (Scopa).

Or, if you are looking for a divine dining experience, and you’ve never been to Cyrus, you should remedy that immediately.  Call them.  Now.   (707) 433-3311.
