Wine Road, an association of wineries and lodgings in the Alexander, Dry Creek, and Russian River Valleys, holds three annual events each year – Winter Wonderland (January), Barrel Tasting (March), and A Wine and Food Affair (November).
During A Wine and Food Affair, each participating winery prepares a special recipe to pair with one of their wines. With your ticket, you can visit the wineries, taste the food/wine pairing, and then take home a cookbook (included in your ticket price) that has all of the recipes in it. Most wineries pour several other wines as well for tasting.
Tickets usually go on sale in September, and you can buy a ticket for both Saturday and Sunday, or for Sunday only. A Wine and Food Affair is leisurely, enjoyable and usually less crowded than other similar events (such as Passport to Dry Creek Valley). The best part is that you can print out a listing in advance of the participating wineries and the food they are serving, so you can strategize your trip based on food, wine, or both! But, be sure to purchase your ticket in advance because this event does sell out.
Our itinerary changes significantly each year due to the food offerings, but we highly recommend these ten based on wines alone:
Copain Wines (7800 Eastside Road, Healdsburg)
Davis Family Vineyards (52 Front Street, Healdsburg)
Hawley Winery (36 North Street, Healdsburg)
Kokomo Winery (4791 Dry Creek Road, Healdsburg)
Longboard Vineyards (5 Fitch Street, Healdsburg)
Lynmar Estate (3909 Frei Road, Sebastopol)
Medlock Ames (3487 Alexander Valley Road, Healdsburg)
Mueller Winery (6301 Starr Road, Windsor)
Sonoma Cutrer (4401 Slusser Road, Windsor)
Wilson Winery (1960 Dry Creek Road, Healdsburg)
